Twig Badge Awards 2018: Find out this year’s winner!

On today’s post, we will talk about the 2018 Twig Badge Awards.  As previously announced, the rules for our Badges Awards have recently changed. Instead of choosing the winner based on their number of badges, every year we will reward the member who’s had the most outstanding performance under a certain badge category.

The chosen category for the 2018 Awards was Socially Engaged – member committed to contributing to a better society. The reason we chose this category is straightforward: we strongly believe that every business has the capability of doing some kind of social actions that contribute to the environment or their local community.

After reviewing all the social actions sent by our members, our team chose to award the company with the most impressive social actions last year: Skyways Group, from India. During the Twig Talk 2018 workshops,  Rohit Sehgal, a representant from Skyways Group, received the award from Twig’s Managing Director Guilherme Luz. The moment was registered in the photo below!

About Skyways Group

Skyways Group has been a leading Logistics Service Provider for over 30 years. With Head Office located in New Dheli and over 10 branch offices, the company is able to offer a ‘one-stop solution’ to all your logistics requirements in India. They also act as NVOCC and were ranked amongst the 2 top air freight forwarders in the country.

Skyways Group embraces Corporate Social Responsibility as part of their activities. The company believes in giving
back to the society/community in which they live and does it passionately.

From 2017 – 2018, Skyway Group has done several different social actions, as you can see below!

Social actions done by Skyways Group

  • Visiting the Earth’s savior foundation

Skyways Delhi organized a visit to The Earth Saviors Foundation – an NGO for the mentally disabled and people who have been abandoned by their families on the streets. The first visit was done by our group’s Chairman, Mr. S.L. Sharma & Managing Director, Mr.Yashpal Sharma. They spent a day at the NGO & contributed to the foundation.

  • Community Education & Development Foundation

Skyways Group has been supporting the education of children of educationally deprived & economically weaker sections of the society. We contributed by donating an accounting software to “Community Education & Development Foundation”, which is used to conduct accounting classes for the underprivileged students. In addition to that, we have also hired students from this school.

  • CHINTAN – Environmental Research & Action Group

Skyways Group has supported yet another important cause by visiting an NGO called CHINTAN. Chintan is an environmental NGO that works mainly with organizations of urban poor like rag pickers and waste pickers. Their focus is on educating the children of waste pickers, who are greatly discriminated in other schools. Skyways Group made a donation and contributed to the acquisition of various items to the kids like coloring books, notepads, sipper bottles and some food items.

  • Contribution towards Child’s Heart Surgery

Skyways Group contributed generously to this social cause by contributing to the Rotary Charitable Trust towards the heart surgery of a child. The child was operated at Max Hospital and is in healthy condition now.

  • Tree plantation

Skyways Group believes in working towards environment conservation and is committed to its growth and protection through its various initiatives. Continuing with this commitment, Skyways Group had organized Tree Plantation drive for all its stations on the 8th of August’2017 i.e. the founder’s day. It will continue to undertake such initiatives that will contribute to make our society greener and healthier”.

Other Twig members that are socially engaged

Logistics Plus

In 2017, Logistics Plus Inc., a leading worldwide provider of transportation, logistics and supply chain solutions, partnered with HanesBrands to receive and prepare several trailers of goods collected to assist hurricane victims in Florida and Puerto Rico. The company’s role was to receive, segregate, re-palletize and separate the goods for air and ocean transportation.

Logistics Plus also helped manage the movement of educational materials for Americans for the Competitive Enterprise System, Inc. (ACES), a nonprofit, non-political educational organization promoting the understanding of free-market economics to students, teachers, and the general public through partnerships between the business and education communities.

Royal Cargo

Twig member Royal Cargo, a company of Brazilian origin and global dimensions, is always searching for ways to do improvements in the society and trying to participate in social causes that contribute to the well-being of their local community.

On the Easter of 2017, the company donated chocolates to the children participating on the Easter Campaign organized by Don Bosco Park, an institution that has been providing services to the community of the city Itajaí for over 50 years. Also last year, Royal Cargo made a clothing campaign to collect blankets, clothing, and shoes to help underprivileged people prepare for the harsh winter that affects the southern region.

EVL

Twig member EVL, a first-class freight forwarder from Brazil, regularly collects donations to help support social causes in Curitiba. The company also prepares special campaigns for holiday seasons. Last Christmas, for example, they have donated 20 dolls to children living in shelters and orphanages. And on Easter, EVL has sponsored a solidarity event organized by ‘Patrulha do Bem’, a Brazilian NGO that promotes activities to assist children in need.

Twig Logistics Network appreciates all the members that somehow contribute and give back to the society. We couldn’t be prouder to have members like Skyways Group, Logistics Plus, EVL and Royal Cargo in our network, with such inspiring Corporate Social Responsibility performances.

Soon, we will be announcing what the chosen category for next year’s awards is! Keep posted on our blog and social media!
